Westpower, a key player in New Zealand’s energy generation and distribution sector, needed a new website packed with scalability, performance, ease of use and features. Working with Attraction Studios as their technical partner we took their modern design aesthetic and built out a high performance Nuxt website packed with functionality

The Challenge

Westpower's existing website had seen its day and was showing its age. It’s dated design and functionality no longer effectively served the needs of Westpower, their consumers or contractors.

It’s poor usability and accessibility, weak technical SEO and a dated content management system were making the platform difficult for end users as well as hard to manage and maintain by the Westpower team.

They required a future-proof platform capable of scaling to meet evolving demands, delivering a seamless user experience, easy content management, powerful search, a contractor only portal and robust security.

Our Solution

Our solution focused on delivering just that, selecting Nuxt for its excellent development experience, inherent scalability, and strong performance capabilities.For content management, we implemented Sanity CMS, an enterprise-grade content management system known for its ease of use, rich text editing and flexibility allowing us to configure the CMS to their exact requirements.

We built the site around a fully compartmentalised workflow making updates and management simple and allowing for new pages, components and functionality to be developed and iterated on independently of the rest of the site's functionality and styling.Built to be fully responsive the website delivers consistent experiences regardless of the devices used.

To provide a superior search experience, we integrated Algolia search. Its powerful indexing and predictive capabilities, combined with direct integration, ensures a seamless and efficient search functionality for users.

For the secure contractors' portal, we opted to use Kinde for user authentication and access control. Kinde's robust security features, direct integration with Nuxt, and user-friendly administration portal makes managing contractor permissions simple for the Westpower team.
